Chali's story in Uganda's Primary schools has begun.

The first half of the year has excited many children in classrooms. Even children with special learning needs are waiting to hold this storybook in their hands — not just to read the stories Chali gets to hear from the animals, but because they see themselves in his journey, out there on Lake Victoria, talking to the animals themselves.

This is why this storybook is different!

Whether it’s rural classrooms filled with children from low-income communities or urban classes with children from high-income households, most of these children don't get a chance to read stories with environmental knowledge from Lake Victoria.

Chali's Adventures on Lake Victoria changes that.

He is local. He is curious. He is strong.

He is learning to care for the animals, his community, and the things his teachers tell him about animals.

I believe when any child gets to hold this storybook in their hands, they will be empowered to one day make a conscious decision to protect the world of the animals in the Lake Victoria basin.
